Becoming an animator is hard, with little guarantee of landing a job. But we love animation, so we do it anyway. Does that mean times will get tough? Yes. Will we doubt ourselves? Absolutely. Will we feel like we're not making progress and maybe, just maybe, we’re wasting our time?
This is normal. It’s part of the journey! Unfortunately, it’s something you will definitely feel.
However, there are some tricks to deal with it!

Learn from Feedback
Rejection is hard, but it’s a tool for growth. Take constructive criticism for what it is, don’t take it to heart, and apply it to your next shot.
Set Small Goals
Instead of focusing on massive dream shots, break it down into small, achievable shots that you can actually finish. Just by completing shots, you’ll keep your self-esteem up! There’s nothing worse than feeling defeated by a shot, it can really hurt your confidence. But it doesn’t have to! We kinda do this to ourselves by going to hard too soon!
Relax - Small, bite sized shots and you will not only grow your skills but your confidence too!
Stay Inspired
Watch films, read books, and follow animators who inspire you. Inspiration is fuel when times get tough. There is nothing that makes us want to animate more than when we watch a banging animation.
